Please do Assessment to my speaking TOEFL IBT Practice, based on TOEFL iBT rubrics in scale out of 10 for each rubric (Delivery, Language Use, Topic Development):

Sure, let's assess your response based on the TOEFL iBT rubrics, focusing on Delivery, Language Use, and Topic Development. Each category will be rated out of 10.

1. **Delivery (6/10):**

   - Your delivery is fairly clear, but there are some issues with pronunciation and fluency that affect your overall score. For example, there are minor hesitations and pauses throughout your response. Additionally, some words are not pronounced clearly, which can make it a bit difficult to understand your points at times.

2. **Language Use (7/10):**

   - Your use of English is generally effective, but there are some errors in grammar and vocabulary that slightly impact the clarity of your response. For instance, in the sentence, "so live in small town will give me more peaceful and more socialize with people," there are errors in the use of articles ("a small town" instead of "small town"), verb tense ("will give" should be "would give" for conditional statements), and the word "peaceful" should be "peacefulness." These errors, while not severely hindering comprehension, could be improved.

3. **Topic Development (7/10):**

   - You address the topic by expressing a preference for living in a small town over a big city. You provide a valid reason for your preference, citing the importance of work-life balance and the ability to work remotely. However, your explanation lacks depth and specific examples. It would be beneficial to elaborate further on the advantages of a small town and perhaps share a personal anecdote or two to make your response more compelling.

Overall, your response is understandable and addresses the topic adequately, but there is room for improvement in terms of delivery, language use, and providing more detailed support for your preference. This would help enhance the overall quality of your TOEFL iBT speaking practice response.

Task 4

Listening Passage:

Professor: Good afternoon, class. Today, we're going to delve into one of the most pivotal events in American history—the American Revolution. This revolution, which took place between 1775 and 1783, fundamentally reshaped the course of history and led to the birth of the United States as an independent nation.

Now, let's talk about the causes that led to the American Revolution. One of the primary factors was the issue of taxation without representation. The British government imposed a series of taxes on the American colonies, such as the Stamp Act and the Townshend Acts, without allowing the colonists to have a voice in these decisions. This led to widespread resentment and protests among the colonists.

Another significant cause was the principle of "no taxation without representation." Colonists believed that they should only be taxed by their own colonial governments or by individuals they had elected. The British government's failure to respect this principle fueled the revolutionary sentiment.

Moreover, the ideological influence of Enlightenment thinkers like John Locke played a crucial role. Concepts of natural rights and the idea that governments should derive their authority from the consent of the governed greatly inspired American patriots.

Moving on to the consequences of the American Revolution, it's essential to recognize that it had far-reaching effects. Firstly, it resulted in the Treaty of Paris of 1783, which officially recognized the independence of the United States from British rule. The former American colonies had become a new nation.

Additionally, the Revolution laid the foundation for the U.S. Constitution, which established a system of government based on democratic principles and a separation of powers. It served as a model for many other nations seeking independence and democracy.

In conclusion, the American Revolution was a transformative event that arose from a combination of political, economic, and ideological factors. Its consequences not only shaped the United States but also had a profound influence on the course of world history.

The question:

Summarize the key causes and consequences of the American Revolution as discussed in the lecture. Explain how these factors contributed to the emergence of the United States as an independent nation and influenced the development of democratic principles.

My Answer transcript:
